Resource’s E-Waste recycling facility in Derrimut, is Australia’s first and only alkaline and zinc carbon battery facility, with recovery rates among the highest in the world. ReSource set its sights on expanding into the broader e-waste challenge facing Australia.
To secure Environment Protection Authority (EPA) approval for their operations, Resource needed to address potential environmental impacts associated with e-waste recycling at its facility. The submission of a Development Licence application, Environmental Impact Assessment and a Risk Management and Monitoring Program (RMMP) were all critical elements that formed their Development Licence application to EPA.
By providing comprehensive environmental consulting services, SPM helped ReSource successfully navigate the EPA approval process and obtain the Development Licence for their new e-waste recycling facility. SPM’s key roles were:
Regulatory approvals secured – Re-Source successfully met all environmental compliance requirements, enabling e-waste recycling to commence.
Sustainable waste management – ReSource’s facility operates in an environmentally responsible manner, contributing to the circular economy and minimising the environmental impact of electronic waste.
SPM’s meticulous documentation, technical expertise, and effective communication successfully allowed Resource to obtain the necessary EPA approvals to commence operations.
