The size and the complexity of the project meant there were substantial environmental approvals required, and numerous stakeholders involved. Rail Projects Victoria, VicTrack, Heritage Victoria, EPA Victoria, DEECA, local Councils as well as Traditional Owners and community groups were to be consulted. DT Infrastructure needed to address all potential environmental impacts associated with the project and comply with all regulatory frameworks.
SPM worked extensively with DT Infrastructure, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise in obtaining the necessary approvals. This included:
Conducting comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments for the expanded operations focusing Flora and Fauna, Cultural Heritage Assessments, Planning Approvals, and Environmental Approvals.
Facilitating effective community consultation activities to inform and engage local communities about the project, addressing concerns and gathering feedback.
Agency liaison – SPM maintained strong communication and collaboration with key agencies, including Rail Projects Victoria, VicTrack, and local councils, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory approvals secured – DT Infrastructure successfully met all environmental compliance requirements, contributing to the Warnambool Line Upgrade’s success.
