SPM played a crucial role in setting up the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Rail Duplication project to comply with Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) requirements and the Environmental Management Framework (EMF). Here’s how they contributed in the early stages, supporting the Alliance between McConnell Dowell, Downer, and Arup:

Understanding and Interpreting Requirements

• RPV Standards and Specifications:
  SPM conducted a thorough review of RPV’s standards and specifications related to environmental management, construction practices, and stakeholder engagement. This ensured the project team understood and incorporated its environmenetal obligations into the project design and delivery from the outset.
• EMF Implementation:
  SPM translated the high-level objectives and mitigation measures outlined in the EMF into specific, actionable plans and procedures for implementation during the project’s design and construction phases.

Developing Management Systems

• Environmental Management Plans (EMP):
  SPM assisted in developing and refining an EMP specifically tailored to the project’s needs and aligned with RPV requirements. The EMP included procedures for:
  • Impact Identification and Assessment:
    Systematically identifying and assessing potential environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mitigation Planning and Implementation:
    Developing and implementing appropriate mitigation measures to address identified risks.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
